On the reverse of each 2025 Mexican Silver Libertad is the depiction of Winged Victory. First featured in this modern format on Silver Libertads in 1996, the artwork captures a partial profile of Victory as she stands atop the Independence Victory Column, a landmark in Mexico City.
The design inspiration for Mexico’s Winged Victory draws heavily from classical Greco-Roman mythology, particularly Nike, the Greek goddess of victory, and the Roman Victoria. However, Mexican artists and designers adapted these ancient symbols to reflect distinctly Mexican values and historical experiences. The figure’s pose, with arms outstretched and wings spread wide, evokes both protection and triumph, suggesting a nation that has overcome adversity through struggle.

For 2025, the Mexican Mint has made major reductions to the mintage of Mexican Silver Libertads and has not released any 2025 Mexican Gold Libertads.
