The Mexican Mint, recognized as the oldest mint still in operation in the Western Hemisphere, is the producer of Mexican Libertad bullion coins. All 2025 2 oz Mexican Silver Libertad Coins come with an individual plastic flip and arrive in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The 2 oz Silver Libertad was first issued in 1996. In 2025, the Mexican Mint cut back heavily on the mintage of Mexican Silver Libertads and chose not to produce 2025 Mexican Gold Libertads. The mintage totals for BU Silver Libertads have dropped to levels never before seen in the program, setting the stage for long-term scarcity.
On the obverse side of 2025 Mexican Silver Libertads, the coins display the national coat of arms of Mexico. This emblem showcases a golden eagle perched atop a prickly pear cactus, gripping a serpent in its beak and talon. For 1 oz and larger silver coins, the central seal is surrounded by ten historical variations of Mexico’s coat of arms.
The reverse side of the 2025 2 oz Silver Libertad Coin features the Winged Victory design. This particular interpretation, introduced to Silver Libertads in 1996, presents a three-quarter view of Winged Victory, as she stands atop the Mexican Independence Victory Column in Mexico City.
