Golden eagles are large raptors with wingspans reaching up to 7.5 feet and weighing between 6-15 pounds, with females typically larger than males. They possess distinctive golden-brown plumage on their heads and necks, dark brown bodies, and powerful talons capable of exerting over 750 pounds of pressure per square inch.

On the obverse of the 2025 Samoa Golden Eagle Coin, you will find the national coat of arms of Samoa. The national seal includes a palm tree at the top of the shield with stylized ocean waves behind it, while the bottom portion of the shield features the Southern Cross constellation. The shield is topped by a Christian cross and there is a banner below with the national motto of FA’AVAE I LE ATUA SAMOA. This translates as God is the Foundation of Samoa, or Samoa is Founded on God.

The reverse of 2025 1 oz Silver Golden Eagle Coins comes with an image of a majestic golden eagle in flight. Golden eagles are capable of soaring at great heights and diving at speeds exceeding 150 mph when hunting.
