This new finish expanded the series and was eventually introduced in three of the eight weights available in the Silver Libertad lineup: 5 oz, 2 oz, and 1 oz. Each 2025 5 oz Reverse Proof Mexican Silver Libertad Coin arrives with protective plastic capsules. These coins are struck with a reverse proof finish that reimagines the appearance of a typical proof coin. In this variation, the main design elements exhibit a mirrored surface, while the background fields carry a frosted appearance.
Reverse Proof Silver Libertads have long had limited mintages each year. The first issue in 2015 saw only a 1 oz silver coin offered with a mintage of 1,500 coins. The first several years for each of the 1 oz, 2 oz, and 5 oz coins had slight variations in mintage. From 2019 to 2022, all three weights were pegged at just 1,000 coins each.
The obverse of the 2025 Reverse Proof Mexican Silver Libertad includes the Mexican coat of arms. The central design features a golden eagle facing left, gripping a snake with its talons and beak, perched on a prickly pear cactus. Surrounding the modern seal are 10 earlier versions of the national emblem, reflecting its evolution through time.
The reverse of the 2025 1 oz Reverse Proof Silver Libertad Coin displays Winged Victory, a figure rooted in the iconography of Mexico’s revolutionary heritage. Depicted in three-quarter relief, she holds a laurel wreath aloft in her right hand while grasping a broken chain in her left.
