In 2015, after nearly three decades of issuing only BU and Proof Silver Libertads, the Mexican Mint introduced the Reverse Proof Silver Libertad. This version broadened the series and has since appeared in three of the eight Silver Libertad weights: 5 oz, 2 oz, and 1 oz. Today, 2025 1 oz Reverse Proof Mexican Silver Libertad Coins in certified condition are available at JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
Reverse Proof Silver Libertads have consistently been produced in limited numbers. The 2015 debut included only a 1 oz coin with a mintage of 1,500 pieces. Early years for the 1 oz, 2 oz, and 5 oz coins saw minor changes in mintage totals. From 2019 through 2022, all three weights were limited to just 1,000 coins each.
All 2025 1 oz Reverse Proof Mexican Silver Libertad Coins are available in perfect condition. PR70 coins have full, original mint luster and no visible detractions. As reverse-proof specimens, these coins have mirrored design elements overlaying frosted background fields for a unique visual contrast.
The obverse of the 2025 Reverse Proof Mexican Silver Libertad carries the Mexican coat of arms. At the center, a golden eagle faces left while grasping a snake in its talons and beak, standing atop a prickly pear cactus. Around the modern seal, 10 earlier iterations of the national emblem reflect its development across history.
The reverse of the 2025 1 oz Reverse Proof Silver Libertad Coin showcases Winged Victory, a figure drawn from Mexico’s revolutionary heritage. Shown in three-quarter relief, she raises a laurel wreath in her right hand and holds a broken chain in her left.
