The primary design of the Silver Eagle is the figure of Walking Liberty. Created in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman, this visual debuted during a Renaissance period in American coin design. Between 1907 and 1921, all of the nation’s major circulating coins were redesigned to capture the bold spirit of America at the dawn of the 20th century.
The obverse of the 2025 Colorized American Silver Eagle features Weinman’s iconic depiction of Lady Liberty. This design shows her full-length figure in left-profile relief with the American flag draped around her figure. This unique finish includes the colors of the American flag in the background, with the blue field of white stars and the red-and-white stripes. Liberty’s figure is finished with a thin layer of 24-karat gold.
On the reverse of 2025 1 oz Colorized Silver Eagle Coins, the design showcases an American bald eagle in flight. Recently designed in 2021 by Emily Damstra, this image shows an eagle swooping downward with flexed wings as its talons clutch a large oak branch. The background field features a field of blue with white stars, while the eagle is finished with 24-karat gold layering.
