Polar bears have evolved remarkable adaptations that make them masters of the Arctic environment. Their thick, water-repellent fur isn’t actually white—each hair is transparent and hollow, creating the appearance of white when light reflects off it, while their skin underneath is black to help absorb heat from the sun.
The obverse of the 2025 Canadian Silver Treasured Maple Leaf Coins features His Majesty King Charles III. This marks the first time King Charles III has appeared on Canadian coinage, with the portrait designed by Canadian artist Steven Rosati in 2024. The left-facing profile presents the King without a crown, following the tradition of previous monarch depictions.
