On the obverse of the 2025 1 oz Silver Britannia and Liberty Coin is a portrait of King Charles III. This left-profile image was created by Martin Jennings in 2022 and is set against a guilloche background. In keeping with tradition, Charles III is depicted without a crown.
The reverse of the 2025 British Silver Britannia and Liberty Coin features Britannia and Liberty side by side, each carrying their respective symbols, such as the trident and the torch. Following the end of Roman rule, Britannia’s image remained dormant for centuries until the Elizabethan era, when Britain emerged as a maritime power. Meanwhile, Liberty became an enduring emblem of American democracy and a welcoming sight for generations of immigrants arriving at Ellis Island.
During the 18th and 19th centuries, Britannia became increasingly prominent in British cultural and political imagery.
