King Charles III is found on the obverse of 2025 1 oz Gold Britannia Coins. This design was created in late 2022 by Martin Jennings and debuted in mid-2023 on the coins of the Britannia Series. This is the first-ever portrait of Charles III and shows the monarch in left-profile relief without a crown on his head.
Britannia is depicted in the reverse design of the 2025 British Gold Britannias. Philip Nathan created this design in 1987 and it shows Britannia’s figure in front-facing relief with a Corinthian helmet on her head. Her right hand clutches a trident while her left holds an olive branch as it rests on a Union Jack shield.
Britannia’s symbolism evolved to reflect changing national values and global position. The trident represented naval supremacy, the shield stood for the defense of the realm, and the helmet signified wisdom and protection. The lion at her feet symbolized courage and strength, while an olive branch she sometimes held represented peace.
These 2025 1 oz British Gold Britannia Coins are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Individual coins arrive in plastic flips, while multiples of 10 are packaged in an acrylic tube. Boxes are available for multiples of 100 coins, with a total of 10 tubes in the box. These coins have four security elements on the reverse that include a wave texture pattern in the background, tincture lines, a latent security mark, and micro-text.
