Coin Highlights:
The Mexican coat of arms has evolved through numerous iterations since independence, with each major political era leaving its mark on the design while preserving the central image of the eagle, serpent, and cactus that forms its inviolable core. The current official version was standardized in 1968, depicting a golden eagle in profile with wings half-raised, gripping a rattlesnake in its beak and talons while perched on a prickly pear cactus rising from a rocky outcrop surrounded by water.
