The following year, in 1983, the series expanded to include a 1 oz proof silver version. On the obverse of the 2025 Proof Mexican Silver Libertads, you’ll find the modern version of the national emblem. This design presents a golden eagle standing on a prickly pear cactus, holding a serpent in its beak and talons. On larger coins, including the 1 oz, 2 oz, and 5 oz versions, this central design is surrounded by 10 historic variations of the emblem. Fractional-ounce coins like the 1/2 oz version display only the modern coat of arms.
The reverse side of the 2025 1/2 oz Proof Silver Libertad Coin features the iconic Winged Victory statue, shown at the top of Mexico City’s Independence Victory Column. In the background, the volcanic peaks of Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl complete the scene.
