Since its introduction 1986, the American Gold Eagle bullion coin has been available to investors in four weights. The series includes a 1 oz gold coin and three fractional-ounce options, with the largest of those being the 1/2 oz Gold Eagle. All coins in the series feature Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ iconic Liberty image from the 1907 $20 Double Eagle. Coin Highlights:
Saint-Gaudens' Liberty design for the Double Eagle represents the pinnacle of American coin artistry, featuring a full-length figure of Liberty striding forward in flowing classical robes. The design was revolutionary for its time, departing from the static, portrait-style representations that had dominated American coinage.
All 2025 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle Coins listed here come in Mint State 69 condition. Coins with this grade have full, original mint luster and two minor detractions. Examples of these flaws include minuscule contact marks or hairlines found outside the primary focal points of the coin. These Early Release specimens were received for grading within 30 days of release by the US Mint. Each one comes with an exclusive JM Bullion label that includes our company logo and the American flag.
On the obverse of the 2025 American Gold Eagles is Saint-Gaudens’ famous effigy of Liberty. In this design, she holds a torch aloft in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. She is shown in front-facing relief as she strides away from the U.S. Capitol Building as rays of sunshine fill the background.
The reverse side of 2025 1/2 oz Gold Eagle Coins comes with a depiction of the American bald eagle. Created in 2020, this design from Jennie Norris debuted in mid-2021 and offers a detailed look at the head of the American bald eagle in left-profile relief.
