Golden eagles have one of the most extensive ranges of any raptor species, naturally occurring across mountainous and open regions of North America, Europe, Asia, and parts of North Africa. In North America, they inhabit areas from Alaska and western Canada down through the western United States and into Mexico, while in Eurasia, their range extends from Scandinavia and Scotland eastward through Russia, Central Asia, China, and the Himalayas.
On the obverse of the 2025 Samoa Gold Golden Eagle, you’ll find Samoa’s national coat of arms. The shield design includes a palm tree set above stylized waves, with the Southern Cross constellation in the lower section. Topping the shield is a Christian cross, and beneath it lies a banner inscribed with the national motto: FA’AVAE I LE ATUA SAMOA, meaning “God is the Foundation of Samoa” or “Samoa is Founded on God.”
The reverse side of the 2025 1/10 oz Gold Golden Eagle Coin depicts a golden eagle in flight. These birds are skilled hunters, capable of reaching dive speeds over 150 mph. Their primary diet includes small mammals such as rabbits and marmots, along with young deer, birds, and carrion.
