The United States Mint introduced the American Silver Eagle in 1986. When the program debuted, the US Mint offered two versions of the coin in 1 oz silver only. Those options consisted of the BU Silver Eagle for investors and the Proof Silver Eagle for collectors. The Burnished Silver Eagle debuted in 2006 and offered collectors a second option in the series. Now, 2024-W 1 oz Burnished American Silver Eagle Coins are available online at JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
All coins in the American Silver Eagle Series feature the same design elements on the obverse and reverse. These images capture Lady Liberty and the American bald eagle, offering both classical designs and modern interpretations of the two figures, respectively.
Adolph A. Weinman designed the Liberty image featured on these coins back in 1916. Known as Walking Liberty, the US Mint used the design on the Half Dollar from 1916 to 1947. Emily Damstra is the artist behind the modern image of the bald eagle found on the reverse. This design was created in 2020 and debuted on these coins in 2021 for the 35th anniversary of the series.
Obverse design elements on the 2024-W 1 oz Burnished Silver Eagle Coins include Weinman’s effigy of Liberty. This visual captures her full-length figure in left-profile relief. She is shown walking toward the sun on the horizon carrying branches of oak and laurel in her left hand as she extends her right arm outward. The American flag is draped around her figure.
Reverse visuals on the 2024-W Burnished American Silver Eagles include the modern rendition of the bald eagle. A naturalistic design concept, the image shows the eagle in left-profile relief as it swoops down into view clutching a large oak branch in its talons.
These 2024-W 1 oz Burnished American Silver Eagle Coins are available in SP70 condition. Coins with this grade showcase full, original mint luster and have no detractions. First Strike indicates the PCGS received these coins for grading within 30 days of issue by the US Mint.
