Silver Eagles feature designs that honor two of the nation’s most beloved symbols: Lady Liberty and the bald eagle. Liberty has long been a symbol of freedom and democracy in the United States, with the iconic design on these coins coming from Adolph A. Weinman. His artistic rendering of Walking Liberty was created in 1916, first used on the US Half Dollar until 1947, and revived in 1986 for this series.
The American bald eagle featured on the reverse of these modern Silver Eagles is the second bald eagle emblem to grace the coins. Introduced in 2021, it was created by Emily Damstra and offers a more natural glimpse of the eagle. The Founding Fathers chose the bald eagle as the national emblem in 1792, citing its majesty, longevity, and strength as reasons for the selection of this bird.
For the obverse of 2024-W 1 oz Burnished Silver Eagle Coins, Weinman’s full-length effigy of Liberty features on the coin. Liberty is shown in left-profile relief with branches of oak and laurel in her left hand. She walks toward the sun on the horizon with her right arm extended and the American flag draped around her figure.
In the reverse design of the 2024-W Burnished American Silver Eagle, Damstra’s modern image of the eagle takes flight. This design captures the bald eagle in left-profile relief as it swoops downward in flight while carrying a large oak branch in its talons.
These 2024-W 1 oz Burnished American Silver Eagle Coins are in NGC plastic slabs and boast MS70 certification. Mint State 70 coins showcase full, original mint luster with no flaws. The First Day of Issue designation is for coins the NGC receives for certification within 24 hours of release from the mint.
