The release of the first Burnished Silver Eagles in 2006 coincided with the 20th anniversary of the Silver Eagle Series. The coins feature specially polished blanks that deliver a matte visual finish to each one. Burnished Silver Eagles are only available in 1 oz silver and have been issued between 2006 and 2008, and annually as of 2011.
For the obverse design of 2024-W Burnished American Silver Eagles, the US Mint features the iconic Walking Liberty effigy. Designed in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman, the image shows Liberty in left-profile relief as she walks toward the sun on the horizon. Her figure is draped in the American flag as she carries branches of oak and laurel.
In the reverse design of 2024-W 1 oz Burnished Silver Eagle Coins, you will find a modern image of the American bald eagle. Designed in 2020 by Emily Damstra, this image of a bald eagle swooping down with an oak branch in its talons debuted on the coins in 2021 for the 35th anniversary of the series.
