The Morgan Silver Dollar was a silver coin minted by the United States from 1878 to 1904, and again in 1921. It was named after its designer, George T. Morgan, a British engraver hired by the United States Mint. In 2021, the United States Mint revived the Morgan Dollar design for release on modern silver bullion coins. Today, 2024-S Proof Morgan Silver Dollar Coins are available from JM Bullion.

The Morgan Dollar was originally struck in large quantities to help support the use of silver as money, as part of the Bland-Allison Act, which required the US government to purchase a certain amount of silver and strike it into coins. The Morgan Dollar was eventually discontinued in favor of the Peace Dollar, which was designed to commemorate the peace following World War I.

The reverse side of the 2024-S Proof Morgan Silver Dollar comes with another design from Morgan. On this side, you’ll find the heraldic eagle. The American bald eagle is shown in front-facing relief with its wings spread as its talons clutch the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace.
