In 2021, the United States Mint revived the historic designs of the Morgan Silver Dollar and the Peace Silver Dollar. That initial reintroduction of the designs celebrated the centennial of the last Morgan Dollar and the first Peace Dollar, both of which occurred in 1921. The coins have remained since 2021 as a new fixture of US Mint numismatic offerings. Right now, 2024-S Proof Morgan Silver Dollar Coins are available at JM Bullion in perfect condition.
Coin Highlights:
Each of the 2024-S Proof Morgan Silver Dollar Coins offered here comes in perfect condition with a PR70 grade. Coins with this grade exhibit full, original mint luster and have no detracting flaws. The DCAM designation stands for deep-cameo and refers to the presence of strong, frosted designs overlaying deeply-mirrored, clear fields. The First Strike label indicates the coins were received for certification within 30 days of issue by the mint.
George T. Morgan, who served as the sixth Chief Engraver of the U.S. Mint from 1917 until his death in 1925, was originally recruited from England in 1876 for his exceptional talent in coin design and engraving. His technical expertise in depicting detailed portraits and his ability to work with the limitations of coin-striking technology made him a valuable asset to the Mint during a period of significant monetary expansion.
The obverse of the 2024-S Proof Morgan Dollar Coin comes with Morgan’s bust of Lady Liberty. This left-profile relief depicts Liberty with a Phrygian cap, laurel wreath, and a coronet crown on her head. The portrait of Liberty is encircled by 13 stars in honor of the original American Colonies.
On the reverse side of 2024-S Proof Morgan Silver Dollars is a version of the heraldic eagle. Also designed by Morgan, this image shows the eagle in front-facing relief with its wings spread as its talons clutch the arrow of war and the olive branch of peace. The design notably lacks a US national shield.
