The Peace Silver Dollar was struck by the United States Mint from 1921 through 1935. Sculptor Anthony de Francisci designed the coin as a tribute to the restoration of peace following World War I. The Peace Dollar came after the Morgan Dollar, which was minted between 1878 and 1904 and again in 1921. The new coin was intended to reflect the country’s shift back to peacetime conditions and carried symbolic meaning tied to peace and unity. Minted in smaller quantities than the Morgan Dollar, the Peace Dollar has become a sought-after piece for collectors.

The obverse of the 2024 Proof Peace Dollar Coin shows Liberty in left-profile relief. De Francisci’s portrait highlights her distinct features, flowing hair, and a crown of rays. Around the field are traditional inscriptions, including IN GOD WE TRUST, where the U is presented in the style of a V.

On the reverse of the 2024 Proof Peace Silver Dollar, an eagle is depicted perched on a rock, holding an olive branch. Its wings are folded against its body as rays of sunlight extend into the sky. The design, also by de Francisci, conveys the nation’s outlook for peace following the Great War.
