Lady Liberty is seen on the obverse side of the 2024 Peace Dollar Coin. In this design, Liberty is seen in left-profile relief wearing a radiant crown. Anthony de Francisci designed this image as he used his wife, Teresa, as inspiration.
A bald eagle on a perch is on the reverse field of the 2024 Silver Dollar Coin. Anthony de Francisci also designed this image. It shows a bald eagle perched on a rock in right-profile relief. The Sun can be seen illuminating the scene from the bottom.
The 2024 Peace Silver Dollar Coin will arrive inside a protective plastic slab from the PCGS. These coins have been graded as Mint State 70 by the Professional Coin Grading Service. A Mint State 70 coin has its full, original, mint luster, with no detracting flaws even under 5x magnification. These coins are also designated as First Strike issues which means the PCGS received them for grading within 30 days of the coin being first issued.
In 1918, the US Mint melted down approximately 300 million Morgan Silver Dollars into bars to help the British. This was followed up by the Pittman Act of 1918 which required the US Mint to strike millions of new Silver Dollars. The US Mint orchestrated a contest for a new design which ultimately led to the creation of the Peace Silver Dollar.
