The Perth Mint was established in 1899 following the discovery of rich gold deposits in Western Australia, particularly in the Kalgoorlie region. It was founded by the British government to refine gold from the fields and to produce gold sovereigns and half-sovereigns for the British Empire.

The four coins offer unique finishes. In the set, you’ll find a traditional proof coin and a Brilliant Uncirculated specimen. The unique options include a gilded piece and a colorized coin. The gilded coin features a thin layer of 24-karat gold on the three animals on the reverse, as well as around the edge of the coin. The colorized coin has beautiful layers of colorized lacquer on the animals on the reverse.

On the obverse of each 2024 Silver Perth Mint 125^th Anniversary Coin, you’ll find King Charles III. This is the first-generation effigy of Charles III on Australian coins and is a left-profile relief from Dan Thorne that depicts the King without a crown.

The reverse of the 2024 1 oz Australian Perth Mint 125^th Anniversary Coins comes with the image of the koala, kookaburra, and kangaroo. These three animals are not only highly visible, native marsupials, but are also the inspiration for Perth Mint’s largest bullion collections each year.
