2024 American Gold Buffalos

There is only one coin the US Mint issues on an annual basis that features 24-karat gold: the American Gold Buffalo. When this coin series debuted in 2006, it was the first-ever 24-karat gold from the United States of America. Like its cousins in the American Eagle Series, these coins boast a historic design from America’s past.

Inspired by the Buffalo Nickel

The design of the modern American Gold Buffalo comes from James Earle Fraser’s work on the 1913 US Nickel. Known as the Buffalo Nickel, it features a right-profile bust of an indigenous figure on the obverse and a left-profile depiction of an American bison on the reverse.

The 2024 American Gold Buffalo is offered by the United States Mint as a Brilliant Uncirculated specimen for investors and as a Proof specimen for collectors, with the latter individually packaged in capsules, a presentation box, and a Certificate of Authenticity.
