2024 marks the Year of the Dragon in the Chinese zodiac. The dragon is the only mythical creature of the 12 animals in the zodiac and is regarded as the most revered. Dragons symbolize power, strength, and nobleness. 2024 specifically marks the Year of the Wood Dragon, as each animal has to have an element alongside it. We only experience this event once every 60 years.

Each 2024 2 oz Burundi Silver Lunar Year of the Dragon Coin will arrive encased in an acrylic capsule within a green display box. The obverse of each 2024 Burundi Silver Lunar Year of the Dragon Coin features the Burundi coat of arms. This emblem, which was adopted in 1966, features a lion’s head displayed on a shield with three spears appearing from behind it. The motto “Unite – Travail – Progres” is also displayed. Identifying marks of the coin as well as a hologram effect design surround this image.

A unique dragon design is featured on the reverse field of each 2024 2 oz Silver Lunar Year of the Dragon Coin. The dragon appears on the left side of the coin next to the traditional Chinese character for the word dragon. The dragon is staring at a real jade stone which is also featured on this field. Above the jade stone is a 24-karat gold-plated privy mark.
