“SpongeBob SquarePants” was created by marine science educator and animator Stephen Hillenburg. The series premiered on Nickelodeon on May 1, 1999, with a sneak peek episode. The official series premiere followed on July 17, 1999.

The obverse of the 2024 Tuvalu Silver Spongebob Squarepants Coin comes with a portrait of His Majesty King Charles III. This particular left-profile bust of Charles III was created by Jody Clark, the artist behind the final effigy of his predecessor and mother, Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
