The Chronos Series from the Pressburg Mint is a long-running collection that originated in 2015 as a series of silver rounds. More recently, the collection became a legal tender bullion coin series. When the Pressburg Mint introduced the Chronos Series in 2015, it was offered as a silver round collection with no legal tender face value. In 2019, the series became a legal tender collection with face values issued in New Zealand Dollars and released on behalf of Tokelau. After being issued on behalf of Niue in 2023, the series returns as a Tokelauan issue in 2024.
All of these 2024 1 oz Tokelau Gold Chronos Coins are available here with proof-like visuals that include frosted visuals and mirror-like fields. Each coin is individually packaged in a protective capsule. These 1 oz gold proof coins have the same mintage cap as the 2023 release, with just 1,000 coins available.
On the obverse of 2024 Tokelau Gold Chronos Coins, you will find the first effigy of His Majesty King Charles III in this series. Historically, monarchs featured on the obverse from 2019-2022, with Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II previously featured. This new bust of Charles III comes from Dan Thorne.
The reverse side of the 2024 1 oz Gold Chronos Coins features the image of a clock, with the hands set to 11:55. The image of a clock with the hands at this time has remained constant, but the background visual elements often change. This year’s design focuses on the philosophy of Panta Rhei. The philosophy suggests that despite the continuous change, there is a dynamic balance in the universe. This balance emerges from the interplay of opposing forces and contributes to the overall harmony.
