While the gold coins in the collection had several stops and starts in production, the 1 oz Silver Libertad has been issued every year since its debut in 1982. The 1 oz Mexican Silver Libertad is the best-selling coin in the broader Mexican Libertad collection. Eight of the first nine issue years had a mintage of over 1 million coins, with the 1985 coin setting an early record at 2.017 million coins. To date, the highest mintage for the 1 oz Silver Libertad was 2.458 million coins in 1992.
All 2024 1 oz Mexican Silver Libertad Coins available here come in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins are individually packaged in protective plastic flips. The 1 oz Silver Libertad is the smallest coin in the series to feature the obverse design including all 10 historic versions of the Mexican coat of arms. Fractional-ounce coins only feature the modern seal.
Obverse visuals on this silver coin include the Mexican coat of arms. A symbol that has evolved from the Codex Mendoza in 1524, the coat of arms depicts a powerful golden eagle battling a serpent on the branch of a prickly pear cactus. The seal includes a wreath of oak and laurel beneath with a ring of 10 historic versions of the same emblem surrounding the modern visual.
Reverse designs on the 2024 1 oz Silver Libertad Coin include the image of Winged Victory, a symbol based on the ancient goddess Victoria. Her figure is shown here at the top of the Mexican Independence Victory Column as she holds a laurel wreath aloft in her right hand and clutches broken chains in her left. In the background, you’ll note the mountains of Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl.
