Lady Justice, also known as Justitia, has roots in ancient mythology. She is often associated with the Roman goddess Iustitia and the Greek goddess Themis, both of whom personified justice and law. One of the most recognizable features of Lady Justice is her blindfold. This symbolizes impartiality and the idea that justice should be administered objectively, without fear or favor, regardless of wealth, power, or status.
Obverse design elements on the 2024 Gibraltar Silver Lady Justice Coin include the static image of Justitia that has graced the collection since 2021. Her full-length figure is shown in front-facing relief with the blindfold covering her eyes, a sword raised in her right hand, and a set of scales in her left hand.
Reverse visuals on 2024 1 oz Silver Lady Justice Coins depict the coat of arms of Gibraltar. A British Overseas Territory, Gibraltar’s coat of arms includes the Royal Arms of England with a smaller coat of arms at the bottom representing the region of Gibraltar. The identifying hallmarks of the coin are found on this side.
