The diet of loggerhead turtles in the Caribbean is diverse, consisting primarily of hard-shelled prey such as mollusks, crustaceans, and sea urchins. Their powerful jaws allow them to crush the shells of their prey, making them important predators in maintaining the balance of marine ecosystems.
All 2024 1 oz Cayman Islands Silver Sea Life Loggerhead Turtle Coins are available here with plastic flips for individual coins or acrylic tubes for multiples of 20 coins. These coins are proof-like specimens with frosted and mirrored elements in the strike of the coin. This is just the second issue of Loggerhead Turtles in the Sea Life Series.
On the obverse of 2024 Cayman Islands Silver Sea Life Loggerhead Turtles, the mint features the coat of arms of the Cayman Islands. This spade-shaped shield features three stars in the lower two-thirds set against stylized waves in the background. The upper third of the shield depicts a heraldic lion. Atop the shield, you’ll notice a turtle and a pineapple.
The reverse side of the 2024 1 oz Silver Sea Life Loggerhead Turtle Coin comes with a depiction of the Loggerhead Turtle. Loggerhead turtles in the Caribbean undertake long migrations between feeding and nesting grounds. These journeys can span thousands of miles, with some individuals traveling from as far as the eastern coast of North America to nest on Caribbean beaches.
