This effigy of Charles III marks his first appearance on the coins in this series. In fact, his appearance marks the first depiction of a monarch other than Queen Elizabeth II to feature on Silver Maple Leaf Coins.
All 2024 1 oz Canadian Silver Maple Leaf Coins offered here come with a special 24-karat gold application. This gilded layer is a thin application of gold that covers the sugar maple leaf on the reverse of the coin. Each coin comes in a protective plastic capsule and has a limited issue each year.
On the obverse of 2024 Canadian Silver Maple Leafs, you will find the first-ever Royal Canadian Mint bust of Charles III. His Majesty is shown here in left-profile relief and is depicted without a crown on his head. This design was created for the mint by artist Steven Rosati.
The reverse side of the 2024 1 oz Silver Maple Leaf Coin comes with a depiction of the sugar maple leaf. Initially designed for this series in 1979 by Walter Ott, the maple leaf is featured in a beautiful new light in the gilded issue. The design of the sugar maple leaf remains the same, but the finish includes the aforementioned layer of 24-karat gold, bringing beautiful contrast between the leaf and the background field.
