In 2023, the Royal Mint honored the passing of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by featuring her bust on the obverse of Gold Britannia for one final time. In early 2023, Britannia was issued with Elizabeth II’s bust for a brief period before the transition to a portrait of Charles III. In 2024, Charles III will be the only monarch to grace the coins.

This side includes security elements that consist of motion wave lines in the background, a latent security element in the lower left, tincture lines on the shield, and a micro-text engraving around Britannia.
