Quokkas are small marsupial mammals belonging to the same family as kangaroos and wallabies. They are the only member of their genus and are also the focus of the latest native wildlife bullion coin from the Perth Mint. Quokkas are found naturally only in a very small area of Western Australia, primarily on Rottnest Island near Perth and a few small locations on the mainland. Their range has been greatly reduced since European settlement.
Adult quokkas typically weigh between 5.5 to 11 lbs and grow to about 21 inches in length. They have a thick, compact build with a rounded body, short muscular limbs, and a short, broad head. The species is popular with tourists as the animals don’t have an innate fear of human interaction.
The obverse of the 2024 1 oz Quokka Silver Coin features a bust of King Charles III. This is the first issue in this series to feature this new portrait from Dan Thorne. His Majesty is shown in left-profile relief and is not wearing a crown.

These 2024 1 oz Australian Quokka Silver Coins are available in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins are individually housed in capsules. Multiples of 20 are encapsulated individually and sealed together in a plastic roll. Multiples of 100 are available in boxes with five rolls in total.
