Mexican Silver Libertad coins have been produced by the Mexican Mint since 1982 when a 1 oz silver coin was introduced. The series saw two waves of expansion in the 1990s, ballooning the series from a single weight to a total of seven options. The first wave in 1991 introduced four fractional-ounce coins, including a 1/4 oz silver coin. Today, 2024 1/4 oz Mexican Silver Libertad Coins are available from JM Bullion.

The 1991 introduction of fractional-ounce Silver Libertads included the release of 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/10 oz, and 1/20 oz pieces. The coins had nearly identical mintages for the debut, with the 1/2 oz coin boasting 50,618 coins and each of the other three weights having mintages of 50,017. The highest mintage achieved in the 1/4 oz Silver Libertad Series was the 1992 release, a common feature for all four fractional-ounce coins.
All 2024 1/4 oz Mexican Silver Libertad Coins offered here come in individual plastic flips, with each coin available in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The lowest mintage recorded for this weight came in 2021 with sales of 3,250 coins, while the 2023 release last year boasted a large jump in demand to 30,000 coins.
On the obverse of 2024 Mexican Silver Libertads is a depiction of the national coat of arms. The Mexican coat of arms features a golden eagle in left-profile relief on a prickly pear cactus. With its wings raised and its talons outstretched, the eagle battles with a serpent. According to Aztec legends in the 16th century, this visual was a sign from the gods as to where the Aztec capital should be built.
The reverse side of the 2024 1/4 oz Silver Libertad Coins comes with an image of the statue of Winged Victory. She is shown here as she is depicted on the Mexican Independence Victory Column. Winged Victory is shown in three-quarter relief with a laurel wreath in her right hand and a set of broken chains in her left.
