The obverse of the 2024 1/4 oz Gold Eagle Coin showcases the Walking Liberty design of Augustus Saint-Gaudens. This unique portrayal showcases Liberty confidently striding toward the viewer with an olive branch in one hand and a torch in the other. This image was first created in 1907.
The reverse side of the 2024 1/4 oz American Eagle Coin displays the American bald eagle portrait of Jennie Norris. This unique depiction was first created in 2021 and replaced the Miley Busiek image of the bald eagle family. This bald eagle is shown in left-profile relief as identifying marks of the coin surround the image.
The American Gold Eagle Series has gone through many transformations over its 39-year history. These coins debuted in 1986 and were originally dated with Roman numerals before being switched to Arabic numerals in 1992. These coins also underwent a major transformation in 2021 when the reverse design was changed, the first major design change in the history of the coin program.
