The Austrian Gold Philharmonic Series is one of the most popular collections in the world. Introduced in 1989, the collection’s growth from two original weights to its current offering of five weights took place over the course of more than 20 years. One of the relatively new weights is the 1/2 oz Gold Philharmonic. Now, 2024 1/2 oz Austrian Gold Philharmonic Coins are available to you for purchase online from JM Bullion.
- Coins arrive inside individual flips or acrylic tubes of 10 coins!
- 31st release of 1/2 oz Austrian Gold Philharmonic Coins!
- Contains 1/2 Troy oz of .9999 pure gold in BU condition.
- Issued a face value of 50 (Euros) by Austria.
- Obverse includes a look at the Great Pipe Organ.
- Reverse features various musical instruments reflective of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.
To call the 1/2 oz Austrian Gold Philharmonic Coin one of the newer options in the series is a bit tongue-in-cheek. When compared to the 1 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz weights in the series, it is definitely a new coin as it was the last of these weights to be introduced, making its debut in 1994.
However, 1994 was just the fifth year for the series, and is now 30 years in the rearview mirror as of 2024. Additionally, the 1/25 oz coin is by far the youngest having been released only recently in 2014. Nevertheless, the 1/2 oz Gold Philharmonic has proven relatively popular over the course of time and often matches the 1/25 oz coin in terms of demand.
Obverse design elements on the 2024 1/2 oz Gold Philharmonic Coin include the Great Pipe Organ. Here, you catch a glimpse of the pipe organ as it stands inside the Golden Concert Hall within the Musikverein.
Reverse visuals on 2024 Austrian Gold Philharmonic Coins feature an array of musical instruments. The field includes a cello in the central foreground, two violins on either side, a bassoon, a harp, and a French horn in the background. Both the obverse and reverse of the coin were designed by Thomas Pesendorfer in 1989.
These 2024 1/2 oz Austrian Gold Philharmonic Coins are available in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The 1/2 oz gold coins in this series are offered individually in flips or by multiples of 10 in plastic tubes.
