In 1921, the United States Mint introduced its final circulation design for the silver dollar. Known as the Peace Dollar, the obverse and reverse visuals on these coins reflected the desire of the American public to see a coin in circulation that honored the nation’s hard-earned victory in World War I and the peace it sought for the world. Today, 2023-S Proof Peace Silver Dollar Coins are available to you online in certified-perfect condition from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
The original Peace Silver Dollar was introduced in late 1921 with only the Philadelphia Mint issuing the coins. The Peace Dollars were struck from 1921 to 1928 and again from 1934 to 1935. The Philadelphia Mint was a constant in the production of the coins, with San Francisco also frequently striking the coins, missing out on only the 1921 issue. The Denver Mint also issued the coins, missing the 1921, 1924, 1925, and 1935 issues.
All of these 2023-S Proof Peace Silver Dollar Coins are in perfect condition. PF70 coins have full, original mint luster with no detractions present on the coins. The additional First Day of Issue label indicates the coins were received for grading within 24 hours of release from the US Mint.
On the obverse of the 2023 Proof Peace Silver Dollar, you will find an image of Lady Liberty. This bust was created by Anthony de Francisci and includes Liberty’s head in left-profile relief with a radiant crown of light on her head and free-flowing hair.
The reverse side of 2023-S Proof Peace Dollars comes with a depiction of the American bald eagle. The national symbol is shown with its back to the viewer as it rests on a cliff edge. The eagle’s wings rest at its side as it clutches an olive branch in its talons.
