On the reverse of the 2023 Peace Dollar Coin, an American bald eagle rests on a rocky perch, grasping an olive branch in its talons. The rising sun in the background symbolizes the nation’s enduring hope for peace.
The Peace Silver Dollar, first introduced in 1921, represented both a new artistic direction and the closing chapter for the nation’s circulating silver dollars. Minted from 1921 to 1928 and again from 1934 to 1935, the Peace Dollar marked the final issue of 90% silver US dollar coins. To commemorate the centennial of its debut, the US Mint revived both the Morgan and Peace Dollar designs in 2021.
