Following the massive success of the US Mint’s 2021 Morgan Dollar and Peace Dollar issues, the mint is back in 2023 with another chance for collectors to buy modern Morgan Dollars. Now, 2023 Morgan Silver Dollar Coins are available to you for purchase online from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
The Morgan Silver Dollar was introduced by the United States Mint in 1876. It was issued after a five-year hiatus in silver dollar coining in the United States that, by default, brought an end to the Seated Liberty Silver Dollar that had been in production since the mid-1830s. Morgan Dollars were issued from 1878 to 1904 and again briefly in 1921 as silver dollar coining resumed.
Morgan Dollars are so-named in honor of the creator of the obverse and reverse designs. George T. Morgan joined the US Mint as an engraver in 1878 and later served as the Chief Engraver of the United States Mint from 1917 to 1925. He was appointed to this position by President Woodrow Wilson.
Lady Liberty is featured in left-profile relief on the obverse of all 2023 Morgan Dollars. This image shows Liberty with a Phrygian cap on her head, as well as a coronet crown and laurel wreath in her hair.
In the reverse design of 2023 Morgan Silver Dollar Coins, the mint features Morgan’s original heraldic eagle design. This image shows the American bald eagle in front-facing relief with its wings spread as its talons clutch the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace. Morgan’s version of the seal does not include a US national shield.
These 2023 Morgan Silver Dollar Coins come with capsules for each coin. The coins are housed in black US Mint presentation boxes with a themed outer shipper and a Certificate of Authenticity.
