The Tudor Beasts Series from the Royal Mint is set to feature 10 heraldic beasts featured in the emblems of the House of Tudor between 1485 and 1603. While the collection features emblems from the reign of King Henry VIII during his marriage to Jane Seymour, the history of each symbol stretches well beyond this union.
In all, five Tudor monarchs sat on the throne from King Henry VII and King Henry VIII to Henry VIII’s children Mary, Edward, and Elizabeth. The Tudor Beasts Series depicts each of the 10 heraldic beasts that lined Moat Bridge leading into Hampton Court, the preferred residence of King Henry VIII.
