The 12 guardians are known to protect 12 different directions during war. Each guardian represents the animals in the Chinese Lunar Calendar. The series started in 2017 with Gallus, representing the Year of the Rooster who guards the West. Although the guardians are seen in their human form, their armor often depicts the animal that they represent.
2023 1 oz South Korean Zi:Sin Lepus Silver Medals is the seventh coin in the Zi:Sin Series. Silver will arrive in individual plastic flips. Quantities of 25 will arrive in sealed tubes, boxes of 10 tubes are also available for purchase.
The obverse field of all 2023 South Korean Zi:Sin Lepus Silver Medals features a Doggaebi Shield. This image has been featured on the obverse of every Medal in this series, however, the design became more ferocious starting in 2020. This Doggaebi is a mythical creature, people would hang the effigy of the Doggaebi from the edge of their roof tiles to ward off evil spirits. Identifying marks of the coin are also featured around the shield.
The reverse of 2023 1 oz Zi:Sin Lepus Silver Medals features one of the 12 guardians, Lepus. The guardian is shown pointing at something in the distance as the guardian is donning an elegant wardrobe with a headpiece. The moon and some branches can be seen in the background. Lepus represents the Year of the Hare.
