Coin Highlights:
The Great Eastern was a historic ship that played a significant role in maritime history. It was designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel, a prominent 19th-century engineer, and was launched in 1858. The Great Eastern was initially intended for the passenger and cargo transport between England and Australia.
All of the 2023 1 oz Rwandan Silver Great Eastern Nautical Ounce Coins offered here come in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins are individually housed in plastic pouches, with multiples of 10 coins offered in plastic sheets.
On the obverse of 2023 Rwandan Silver Great Eastern Nautical Ounce Coins, you will find the national coat of arms of Rwandan. This design showcases a traditional basket in front of a cogwheel with branches of coffee and sorghum flanking the basket. A stylized sun is featured overhead with traditional warrior’s shields on either side.
The reverse of the 2023 1 oz Silver Great Eastern Nautical Ounce Coin comes with a depiction of The Great Eastern. Designed by Brunel, the ship was built by John Scott Russell & Company at the Millwall Iron Works on London’s River Thames. The ship took nearly four years to complete, with construction starting in May 1854 and ending in January 1858.
