Each 2023 1 oz Germania Silver Round in this online JM Bullion listing is considered a proof strike. This means that carefully selected planchets were struck with care multiple times with specially polished dies. The result gives each round a mirrored field with frosted devices. Each of these pieces was struck at Germania Mint and will arrive in protective plastic capsules.
Since the 16th century, the allegorical figure of Germania has been recognized as the Mother of the Nation in Germany. Similar to Lady Liberty or Britannia, Germania is a heroine of fierce will and determination. She protects the homeland with grace and authority, keeping the darkness at bay and ensuring that the light shines forth.
The obverse of 2023 1 oz Proof Germania Rounds features the allegorical figure of Germania. In this rendering, the heroine takes a knee as she drives the Imperial Sword known as Reichsschwert into the ground. Off to the side, we see her shield, while upon a stone we see the two-head eagle of mythology. Across the upper rim of these rounds, the identifying hallmarks are shown.
On the reverse of 2023 Proof Germania Silver Rounds, you will see the seal of Germania Mint. This logo contains the double-headed eagle in heraldic form as it clutches lightning bolts in its talons. Inscriptions read 5 Mark, Germania. Please note that while these rounds list a face value, this is nominal only. They are not recognized officially as legal tender.
