The Southern Brown Kiwi is sometimes referred to as the Tokoeka and is one of five species of this flightless bird. The other known species are the rowi, brown kiwi, great spotted kiwi, and little spotted kiwi. About the size of a chicken, the kiwi is the smallest of the flightless bird group known as ratites.
