The Native America the Beautiful Series is the Native American Mint’s take on the iconic America the Beautiful Series from the US Mint. This series features 50 unique coins, one for each state representing a tribe that is, or was, prominent in that area. The 19th coin in this series focuses on South Dakota and the Sioux Tribe which still exists today in the state. Also featured will be a Certificate of Authenticity. This coin features a mintage of 1,000, 500 of them are colorized while the other 500 are not.
The obverse field of each 2023 Colorized Native America the Beautiful South Dakota Silver Coin features the Crazy Horse Memorial. The colorized background showcases the current statue of the actual memorial near Mount Rushmore. The foreground, not colorized, features a look at the finished product.
An American bald eagle design is on the reverse of the 2023 1 oz Colorized Native America the Beautiful South Dakota Coin. This unique image showcases a bald eagle within an 8-point star along with 8 arrows pointing in different directions. Identifying marks of the coin surround the image.
Commissioned by Henry Standing Bear, the Crazy Horse Memorial started production in 1948. After 75 years much of the memorial is still unfinished due to the lack of equipment, weather, and funding issues. If ever completed, as originally intended, the memorial would become the second-tallest statue in the world only behind the Statue of Unity in India.
