In 2023, the Perth Mint moves to the Year of the Rabbit in its Lunar Series III program. This year’s designs come from Ing Ing Jong. Ms. Jong is not only one of Perth Mint’s most prominent designers, but also one of its best Lunar Series artists.
Ing Ing Jong joined Perth Mint in 2011 and created her first Lunar Series design in 2013 during the Year of the Snake in the Lunar Series II program. She contributed the first silver design for the Lunar Series III program with its 2020 Year of the Mouse debut, and now creates both the silver and gold designs for 2023.
Queen Elizabeth II remains on the obverse of 2023 1 oz Silver Lunar Rabbit Coins in the Trio Set. This effigy of the Queen was created for the Royal Mint in 2015 by Jody Clark and is the final portrait of the Queen for British and Commonwealth currency following her September 2022 passing.
Two rabbits are depicted in the reverse of all 2023 Australian Silver Lunar Rabbit Coins. This design shows one rabbit seated beneath a branch as the other stands on its hind legs to sniff at the overhanging branch.
These 2023 1 oz Australian Silver Lunar Rabbit Trios include individual capsules for each coin. The three coins are housed together in a classic Perth Mint case with a clear lid. A Certificate of Authenticity is included with the set. This set contains a traditional proof silver coin, a gilded version of the silver coin, and a colorized version of the coin.
