The American Silver Eagle went on sale on November 24, 1986. Struck at the U.S. Mint, the coin was an instant sensation, with the initial production selling out quickly. In addition to the Silver Eagle, the mint also began offering a gold version that same year. Then in 1997, the U.S. Mint began producing the Platinum Eagle, followed by a palladium version a decade later.
The obverse of 2023 1 oz American Eagle Coins contains a depiction of Walking Liberty. Designed by Adolph Weinman, this stunning rendition shows Lady Liberty in a flowing robe as she walks alongside the rising sun. An image of exquisite beauty, this design has been present on the American Silver Eagle since the coin first arrived in 1986. The obverse also features inscriptions that read 2023, Liberty, In God We Trust.
On the reverse side of 2023 1 oz Silver Eagle Coins, there is a depiction of a bald eagle. In Emily Damstra’s exquisite rendition, the eagle appears in flight with an oak branch in its talons. The bird seems to be swooping downwards and may be in the process of building a new nest. Other reverse details include Damstra’s initials and inscriptions that read United States of America, E Pluribus Unum, One Dollar, and 1 oz Fine Silver.
