Introduced in 1986 alongside its silver counterpart, the Gold Eagle features a historic US coin design on its obverse and is one of the world’s favorite gold bullion coins. Now, 2023 1 oz American Gold Eagle MintSealed Coins are available to you for purchase online from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
With the introduction of the American Gold Eagle in 1986, the US Mint resumed gold coining for the first time since 1933. The 22-karat gold content of the Gold Eagle made it, at the time, the purest gold coin the US Mint had issued since 1834.
The gold content of the American Gold Eagle is a unique 22-karat combination. While some mints issue 22-karat gold coins with 91.67% gold and 8.33% copper, the United States Mint uses a combination of gold, silver, and copper that consists of 91.67% gold, 5.33% copper, and 3% silver.
Obverse designs on the 2023 1 oz Gold Eagle include the iconic 1907 depiction of Lady Liberty. This design from Augustus Saint-Gaudens was created for the $20 Gold Double Eagle and featured on that coin from 1907 to 1933. It depicts the front-facing figure of Liberty with a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other.
Reverse imagery on 2023 American Gold Eagles includes a new depiction of the American bald eagle. This new image of the bald eagle was created by Jennie Norris. In this design, the head of the eagle is depicted with great detail and set in left-profile relief.
These 2023 1 oz American Gold Eagle Coins are available inside individual clamshell cards.
