Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coins are available from the Royal Canadian Mint on an annual basis. This series debuted in 1979, but did not initially include fractional-ounce coins. The 1982 release included the first fractional-ounce coins in the series, with RCM first issuing 1/4 oz and 1/10 oz weights. Coin Highlights:
The Royal Canadian Mint introduced the Gold Maple Leaf Series in 1979. The 1979 to 1981 dates included only the 1 oz gold coin with .999 purity. In November 1982, the Royal Canadian Mint enhanced the purity of the coins to 24-karat gold and introduced both the 1/4 oz and 1/10 oz gold coins.
All of the 2023 1/4 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coins available here come in Brilliant Uncirculated condition with individual or bulk packaging. The individual coins are in sealed plastic, while multiples of 20 are in protective sheets.
On the obverse side of 2023 Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coins, you will find Queen Elizabeth II’s effigy for the final time. Designed in 2003 by Susanna Blunt, this portrait of Elizabeth II is notable for its lack of a crown. This is a rare depiction of the Queen and follows the tradition of her father, King George VI, in leaving a crown out of the effigy.
The reverse field of the 2023 1/4 oz Gold Maple Leaf Coin comes with a vision of the sugar maple leaf. This image was created in 1979 by Walter Ott and captures a realistic view of the nation’s official emblem.
