Since 1986, only the four weights of the BU Gold Eagle have been available each year. Proof coins were introduced between 1986 and 1988. Burnished coins were originally available in all four weights from 2006 to 2008, but have only been available in 1 oz gold since 2011.
Lady Liberty features on the obverse of 2023 1/4 oz Gold Eagle Coins. This design from Augustus Saint-Gaudens was first used on the $20 Gold Double Eagle from 1907 to 1933. It depicts Liberty in front-facing relief.
An American bald eagle is on the reverse of 2023 American Gold Eagle Coins. This depiction of the bald eagle was created in 2020 by Jennie Norris and debuted in mid-2021 as part of the 35th anniversary of the series.
These 2023 1/4 oz American Gold Eagle Coins are available to purchase with a perfect certification from the NGC. Coins in Mint State 70 condition exhibit full, original mint luster with no detractions of any kind present on the design elements or fields of the coin.
