Somalia Elephant Series coins originated from the Bavarian State Mint in 1999 as the Zambian Elephant. After the 2003 issue of the coins, the mint shifted the nation of issue to Somalia. Starting in 2016, a broader range of gold coins became available with 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/10 oz, 1/25 oz, and 1/50 oz gold coins.

All of these 2023 1/25 oz Somalia Gold Elephant Coins are available in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins in this weight come with either individual capsules or plastic tubes for multiples of 20 coins.

On the obverse of the 2023 Somalia Gold Elephant Coin, the Bavarian State Mint features the Somali coat of arms. Similar to its national flag, you’ll find a solitary star in the center of the heraldic shield, with the addition of horizontal lines in the background. The shield is supported on either side by a leopard.

The reverse side of 2023 1/25 oz Somalia Gold Elephant Coins includes a new depiction of the African bush elephant. This year’s design includes the image of an elephant in the immediate foreground using its powerful trunk to reach an overhead branch. The elephant strips leaves from that branch for its meal.
