Introduced in 1982, the Mexican Silver Libertad BU coins spent nearly a decade available to investors with only a 1 oz silver option. Starting in the 1990s, the program rapidly expanded to include both weights larger than 1 oz silver and those below it, with four fractional-ounce coins offered starting in 1991. Today, 2023 1/10 oz Mexican Silver Libertad Coins are available to you online from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
In 1991, the Mexican Mint began the first of three phases of expansion for the Mexican Silver Libertad. This first phase brought with it the introduction of four fractional-ounce coins. Alongside these 1/10 oz Silver Libertads, the Mexican Mint introduced 1/20 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/2 oz silver coins.
All of these 2023 1/10 oz Mexican Silver Libertad Coins are available with individual protective flips. These coins are offered in Brilliant Uncirculated condition from the mint. The highest mintage recorded for this weight in the series came in 1992 when 299,933 coins were sold. The previous issue to this date, 2022, had a final mintage of 4,850.
Obverse designs on 2023 Mexican Silver Libertad Coins include the image of the national seal. The modern design is inspired by an image from the Codex Mendoza that dates back to the mid-16th century and the Aztec Empire. The modern image includes a golden eagle on a prickly pear cactus branch as it battles a serpent.
Reverse visuals on 2023 1/10 oz Silver Libertad Coins feature the depiction of Winged Victory. Her figure famously stands watch over Mexico City to this day at the top of the Mexican Independence Victory Column. In fact, that very image is what is captured in this design as her three-quarter-relief figure is shown with wings, a laurel wreath in her right hand, and broken chains in her left hand.
